We aim to generate supplementary income from holiday rentals in Bali, and the strategy depends on web marketing and booking. While we will use established booking agencies (like wotif.com) where we can, we will also build our own web presence, so we need names.
Eventually we will seek two web names - a web-page that will provide general travel information for Bali. It may point to existing web pages for some of the information, and where we think we can do better than current services (for example, North Bali directories) we can do our own.
- a web-page specifically for our holiday rentals
But for now, we need to get the first name. The idea is to create the first site so that, over time, it will start building a Google page-rank as people do general keyword searches for Bali travel information. It can then help with pointing towards the second site which we will create later. This first site will provide information on how to get there, what to see, accommodation, restaurants etc. So keywords like Indonesia, Bali, travel, hotels, villas, guide, directory, news, warnings etc may be what people enter into their search. The name we choose should be - memorable - so shortness helps
- not easily mixed up with others already out there
- preferably with "bali" in it
- makes sense in English (not absolutely essential)
Many of the first names that come to mind are taken like balitravel.com, baliguide.com etc. (To find out what's taken go to godaddy.com and enter in your idea - it responds immediately.) For a short one Hendra thought of balii.com (the page could feature Bali followed by the "i" for information) - but its not available. Short ones that could be grabbed include balib.com, balih.com, balip.com and baliv.com. Maybe the page for baliv.com could have a heading "Bali V" and sub-heading "A Vast, Visible Vault of Valuable Vacation information on Volcanos, Villas, Vacancies and eVerything." Another way to get memorable names can be to combine the word bali with another short word. Some examples are baliyes.com (think of how Optus has used Yes), balifaq.com (a bit nerdy), balihints, or balitips (meaning travel tips). Buying available names basically costs $US8.95 per year - so once we settle on a name, we will grab it and start placing appropriate information on it. We welcome comments. |
